Run 2583 report by Falsie

Wonderful views were not on offer due to thick fog. Despite the fog there was a great turnout. A mix and match of long and shorts were cleverly laid and kept the Hashers together for much of the run. The hares were confused at the monument as with limited visibility it took a few minutes to pick up the trail. I thought I was lost near the end but spotted HT2 through the fog for the run home. Eventually everyone found their way back to the car park.
Back at the Bulls Head Inn Callington. Down downs were given to the hares HT2 and Endosperm also for Spin The Wheel for falling at the start and to Mystic Meg for a fall she can’t remember, must be her age. Down down for Raffle for 25 runs and Biggles for 950 runs. Talking of raffle prizes, B&M and Hornby rustled up some ad hoc prizes to save the day. Thanks to the hares for another fine run.

Run 2582 report by Falsie

A return to Cuttapit Farm after 23 years apparently. Two long short splits and a treasure stop and more importantly a dry weather window on a wet forecast. The farmland was very pleasant permanent pasture with small field system and lots of traditional hedges. A very well laid hash with the longs joining the shorts at the treasure stop. Lots of streams to cross with one at the end to clean off the mud. The drive to the on down saw vehicles exploring the multitude of narrow lanes between Couch’s Mill and Lanreath.
Back at the Punchbowl Inn there were down downs for the hares Bronyon and Little Bo Peep and also for Invisible Man for falling.
Thanks to the hares for another great run.

Run 2581
Sunday 22nd February 2026 @ 11am

Venue: St Morice Town Primary School, Charlotte Street, Devonport, Plymouth, PL2 1RJ SX452557 on StreetMap
Hares: Brillo and Granville
On-Down: The Herbert Pub, 1 Herbert Street, Plymouth, PL2 1RX
Run 2581 report by Falsie

On a rare break in the weather 27 adults and 2 children set out from the junior school on what Brillo called a Coronation Street run due to all the cobbled lanes. A well laid run that fooled a lot of the front runners with deviations through railway stations, parks and side streets. There were long trails short trails, walkers trail and one marked SCB (refer to hash terminology). The hares kept us right due to some of the drops being washed out. A treasure stop on the return leg in the Devonport railway station.
Back at the on down at The Herbert Pub, glad it wasn’t the Three Ferrets. Down downs to the hares Brillo and Glanville and to Cpt’n Oates for a lunchbox misdemeanour. Food was supplied courtesy of Brillo and Glanville.
Thanks to the hares for a good day and must have appeased the weather gods to have found a couple of dry hours. And thankfully no mud!

Run 2580 Pancake Run

On-Down: North Boduel Farm. PL14 4JZ

Run 2580 Pancake Run report by Falsie

This hash will be on the shortlist for the wettest of the year. Up until 10.50 most Hashers hadn’t arrived. We thought they had had a fit of common sense but most were lost.
Three long short splits with the shorts and walkers heading down the lane and the longs headed down the field and into very boggy terrain. Both longs and shorts picked up the flour before heading across the railway for the second long short. Very wet and slippery fields were then crossed before emerging at the egg stop before heading back across fields to North Boduel Farm.
Back at the farm there were down downs for the hares Get One Free, Godmother and Mystic Meg, and also for All Shook Up for a spectacular fall and to Ketchup Kisses for 25 runs.
Camping stoves were set up and ingredients mixed and pancakes enjoyed. No pancakes were dropped and probably good news as the 3 second rule would not apply. Brown Nose took a fall with frying pan in hand but managed to save the pancake. There was a lot of shivering going on in the barn with some hasers too cold to get changed. Here’s looking forward to warmer drier hashes. Thanks to all involved for a great hash.

Run 2579
Sunday 8th February 2026 @ 11am

Venue: Hornby & Sniffer
Venue: Old A38 at A38/B3252 Junction. SX271620 Entrance road to S Treviddo Farm & adjacent to (north of) traveller site.
Hares: Hornby and Sniffer
On-Down: Red Lion, 5 Lower Lux Street Liskeard PL14 3JL
Run 2579 report by Falsie

29 Hashers turned out for Hornby and Sniffer’s run on a very rare dry spell in Cornwall. Apparently it has rained every day for 36 days!
3 long/short splits, a virtual back check, a treasure stop, lots of mud and electric fences was the pre run briefing.
The long was quite Rambo in places with low, barbed wire fences and low branches to navigate, all whilst trying to keep your footing on the slippery mud on a steep bank. Think Hornby is forgetting how old some of us Hashers are! Luckily the longs had Pedigree Chum to do a lot of the checking. Lovely to see signs of spring breaking through: catkins and snowdrops everywhere. There was also a lot of wild garlic starting to peep through the sodden soil.
The shorts was also long, finishing at a similar time around 12.30.
Sniffer did an excellent job helping the youngest Hashers across the raging streams.
Back at the on down at The Red Lion, down downs given to the hares, Hornby and Sniffer, Rubber Legs for traffic management, Alfie for 25 runs and given the hash name ‘Mr Chatterbox’ and Pedigree Chum for front running.
Must say that although The Red Lion may not be the most salubrious of establishments, the beer is excellent and, at £3 a pint, a good choice of venue. Keeps Hash Cash happy too!
A great run. A big thanks to the hares.

Run 2578
Sunday 1st February 2026 @ 11am

Venue: Delabole, park and start in the lay-by next to the public convenience and the football field PL33 9AG SX 069 840. If it is full there is plenty of parking nearby.
Hares: B&M and Shake Em Up
On-Down: The White Hart Inn at St Teath, Pl30 3SX. Please ring and book if you require a roast dinner. Tel: 01208 850281. Barry has booked for 13.30 so if that time is ok for you just add yourself to his booking. The pub is about 5 or 10 minutes from Delabole, it has a large car park and a roaring fire.
Run 2578 report by Falsie

Waterproofs were the attire or the day with the visibility at the start limited and rain with warnings of the two marked viewpoints may be a little optimistic. You could tell it was bad because Hornby was wearing a jacket and long pants and Godmother in a fleece. B&M probably regretted wearing shorts after taking a tumble at the start resulting in cut knees and hand and also a broken phone.
Fortunately the poor visibility improved to be able to witness both viewpoints over the spectacular Delabole quarry. Underfoot most of the footpaths resembled streams and where there wasn’t flowing water there was mud. The longs had a photo opportunity at a waterfall (see photos from Cyril the Squirrel). Great run despite the weather.
A warm fire greeted us at The White Hart Inn and the number of diners assembled for the roast surely was greater than those on the run. Probably the sensible choice.
Down downs were awarded to the hares B&M and Shake em Up. Scarlet Moggie for 1750 runs. Spin the Wheel for having to go back to retrieve her socks that were left on the car roof, and the return of Invisible Man from his travels.
Thanks for a great run laid and hared in challenging conditions.

Run 2577
Sunday 25th January 2026 @ 11am

Venue: Tencreek Farm, Liskeard PL14 3PS
No dogs please, the sheep are heavily in lamb.
Hares: Godmother and Biscuits
On-Down: Liskeard Bowling Club, Varley Lane, Liskeard. PL14 4AP
Can everyone bring a plate of food to share please.
Run 2577 report by Falsie

After the terrible winds and rain this was the calm after the storm, nice to see the sun. But the legacy from that storm was the very high river levels which meant a hasty change to the route for safety reasons.
Godmother hared the shorts and Biscuits the longs. Three long short splits and a treasure stop where the reason for the diversion could be seen, a bridge overtopped by the river. Shoes and boots were lost in the mud before we ascended back to high ground and the route back to the farm.
Back at the On-Down at the Bowling Club a fine spread was laid out and a warm welcome from club members.
Down downs to the Hares Godmother and Biscuits. Also to Mandrake for loosing both shoes and completing 25 runs. Carnage for 1850 runs. Birthday wishes to Luv A Bull.
A grand day out!

Run 2576
Sunday 18th January 2026 @ 11am

Venue: Menheniot Village Hall PL14 3RR
Hares: Sun Dodger and Hide ’n Seek
On-Down: The British Legion Liskeard PL14 4BL
Run 2576 report by Falsie

We set off from the village hall with false trails in most directions before Mystic Meg eventually picked up the trail out of the village and into fields. Longs and shorts followed the same route looping around the cricket ground and back into the village. Lots of false trails again before picking up the trail up Minehill and back into fields across to Trewint Road where the majority of the shorts gave up the opportunity of a short cut to remain on the long. Mud this week was in short supply, though Hornby looked like he wasn’t taking any chances with hashing in wellies but admitted he had forgotten his trainers.
Back at the Legion bar in Liskeard. Down downs were given to the Hares Hide ‘n Seek and Sun Dodger for another great run. Also to Black Shadow and Cyril the Squirrel for too much loving up on the run. Black Shadow dug the hole she was in deeper by explaining she had goaded Cyril the Squirrel with “come and have a go if you think you are hard enough! “
Down downs for the On Sec for officially becoming a pensioner this week and Ketchup Kisses for stopping on route for a pee. It’s not just the older Hashers!

Run 2575 Christmas Meal
Sunday 11th January 2026 @ 11am

Venue: Great Trethew Manor, Horningtops, Liskeard, PL14 3PY
Hares: Mismanagement
On-Down: Great Trethew for Christmas meal
Run 2575 report by Falsie

Scouted twice, laid twice. Even Mystic Meg knew the route. Wellies were the order of the day due to the mud and standing water with persistent drizzle. Short wellies seemed a good compromise until the water came over the top or got sucked of your feet. Three long short splits and a mix of woodland and fields. Everyone returned back at their cars within an hour and a half for a quick change and the comfort of the bar.
Down downs for the hares Godmother, Mystic Meg, Kiss Me, B&M and Falsie. Capt’n Oats for 1100 runs and Wigan Whippet for his birthday.

The staff at Great Trethew did an excellent job of turning the venue around to accommodate 50 Hashers. Starters and mains were served before the raffle was drawn and finished off with sweet and coffees. The worst of the rain held off until we left.

Thanks to everyone for their help to make it a great day.

Run 2574 Orienteering
Sunday 4th January 2026 @ 11am

Venue: The Hurlers carpark, Minions SX259711
Hares: Rangi and Forest
On-Down: Higher Gonamena, Minions, PL14 5LQ
Teams of 4-6 and one member of the team must carry a smart phone. You will have 1 hour to find as many controls as you can. On down at Forest and Rangi's for mulled wine and mince pies thanks to Er Indoors. Bring your own tipple too if you want.
Run 2574 report by Falsie

Despite the snow on Bodmin Moor there was a surprisingly good turnout. Only one challenging section on the road up to Long Tom before arriving to a winter wonderland at Minions.
After marking maps with all the control points five teams set out on time from The Hurlers and Hornby set off alone forty minutes later. There were wonderful views in all directions only spoiled by a naked photobomber at Gold Diggings.
Back at Higher Gonamena we were greeted with mulled wine and mince pies and clotted cream. Also a home made Christmas cake from Sniffer. Down downs to the hares Rangi and Forest. A down down to Mystic Meg for 1050 runs. And to the winning team B&M, Little Bo Peep, Sniffer, Shake Em Up and All shook up. It was nice to see Midriff and Sky
